Learning and mastership

We’re often told that our lives will have ups and downs. While this is true, perhaps we can look at the downs more positively, so that the majority of our life will seem like an up.

A couple of years ago, I stumbled upon a YouTube video of one of my favourite artists, Lauryn Hill. She too wanted to view her ups and downs more positively. In the video ‘Dropping Truth to the Youth’ she coins the terms Learning and Mastership. Explaining, when you are in one of life’s downs you have the opportunity to learn: When the sadness is resolved and life is up again, you have mastered that task. But, seeking improvement, we must put ourselves back into the state of learning to master a new opportunity. The cycle continues constantly through life, from learning to walk to learning our passions.

For me this is a very positive outlook and I think it’s helpful to consider especially at the beginning of the year. Personally, I haven’t made any new year resolutions, however, if you are looking to achieve something small or big this year, just remember all your down moments are an opportunity for improving.

Although, I would really like to improve my overall blog this year (I’ve just redesigned the whole thing! Let me know if you like it in the comments). One of the things I love about blogging is the community and how there is a lot of help and support around, particularly for new bloggers such as myself. I would love to contribute my support for other writers this year.

Therefore, welcome to my new category, Learning and Mastership. If you are already following my blog, then you may have realised my review category has gone… No worries, my reviews will now be a part of ‘Learning’. I’m aiming to explore lots of different content to share with you that can help inspire us and remove us from our reading/viewing/listening comfort zone. As for Mastership, I’m going to be sharing some writing tips I’ve learnt to help you feel comfortable and inspired to persevere. They’re not going to be perfect methods or make you a writing expert (as I’m clearly not!) but they may help you get started, plus they’re all from personal experiences so hopefully they will make enjoyable reading.

Of course if you would like to see anything in particular for this category just let me know either through comments or my contact page. Can’t wait to write for you guys!
